100% land acquired for Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project
Land acquisition for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor was successfully concluded on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the project's progress. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the completion of the acquisition, revealing that the entire 1,389.49 hectares of land required for the project had been obtained.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) issued a statement on Monday, confirming the acquisition of land in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. According to the statement, all civil contracts for the Gujarat and Maharashtra sections of the project have been awarded. Additionally, 120.4km of girders have been launched, and 271km of pier casting has been successfully completed. NHSRCL officials emphasized that work on the high-speed rail project is progressing rapidly.
The statement highlighted the commencement of the laying of the reinforced concrete (RC) track bed for the corridor in Surat and Anand. A noteworthy accomplishment mentioned was the completion of the first mountain tunnel near Zaroli village in Valsad district. This tunnel, measuring 350m in length and 12.6m in diameter, was finished in a remarkable 10 months.
The NHSRCL statement disclosed the initiation of work on India's first undersea rail tunnel, spanning 7km and forming part of the 21km of tunnels between Bandra-Kurla Complex and Shilphata in Maharashtra. Excavation for the Mumbai HSR station has also commenced as part of the ongoing project.
The statement further outlined the construction progress of high-speed rail stations at Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati in Gujarat, stating that they are at various stages of completion. Additionally, it highlighted the erection of the first steel bridge, a 70m structure weighing 673 metric tonnes, over NH 53 in Surat. Six out of 28 such bridges in the project are at various fabrication stages.
Bridge construction has been successfully completed for rivers including Par (Valsad district), Purna (Navsari district), Mindhola (Navsari district), Ambika (Navsari district), Auranga (Valsad district), and Venganiya (Navsari district). Work is currently underway on bridges over the Narmada, Tapi, Mahi, and Sabarmati rivers, showcasing the comprehensive progress made in developing the high-speed rail corridor.
