Officials from the fire department responded to 20 fires reported on Diwali, adding that no casualties were reported.

According to officials, up to 16 people were burned while bursting crackers on Sunday during Diwali celebrations. One was reported to be in critical condition and was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

According to Dr. Virender Yadav, chief medical officer (CMO), Gurugram, a 24-year-old man from Luxman Vihar in Sector 5 suffered severe burn injuries to his face and was referred to Delhi. The remaining patients are being treated in city hospitals.

Yadav said that all unit in-charges have been instructed to ensure that their staff is available in case of emergency, with the exception of those on night duty.

Six of the patients were children. However, because of the ban on firecrackers last year, there were fewer burns, he said.

According to Gulshan Kalra, the deputy director (technical) of the Haryana Fire Services, who is also in charge of the deputy director (technical) of the Sector 29 fire station, they have organized teams from every fire station and developed a plan.

He said that, the teams were sent to the locations where complaints were filed. There were only green crackers used, and no notable discoveries were made.

There were no major crimes reported on Sunday. People were asked not to burst crackers late at night after it was discovered that they were holding light crackers rather than hard crackers. He claimed that the city's festival was peaceful.
