3-year-old, man die after kite string slits their throats
Kite
strings have always been a cause of accidents during Uttrayan festivals. A fun
day can convert into death day for some. Though Chinese threads have been banned
all over the state, even the local threads are capable to take lives of people.
Every year their occur incidents where people loose their lives as thread comes
their way.
Two such
incidents occurred in different cities of Gujarat on 14TH January.
In a shocking incident a three-year-old Krishna Thakor was killed after a kite
string gashed her neck while she was walking home with her mother in Visanagar
town in Mehsana district in the afternoon, police and her kin said.
“She was
declared dead on the arrival at a nearby government hospital”, an official
said.
In another
similar incident, Swamiji Yadav in Chhani area of Vadodara city died after his
neck was slit by a kite when he was on his motorcycle. “Yadav was coming down a
bridge on his two-wheeler when a kite string cut through his throat, killing
him instantly,” a Chhani police official said.
Other than
this almost 400 people suffered injuries either due to strings or due to
falling off the terrace while flying kites. Also several birds and animals were
also injured due to kite strings. As per the data collated from calls made to
helpline numbers, 336 birds and 723 animals sustained injuries, said officials.
