36 construction workers trapped inside the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway
Early on Sunday morning, about 36 workers were trapped inside the collapsed section of the under-construction tunnel on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway, which runs between Silkyara and Dandalgaon in the Uttarkashi district. The 150m long tunnel collapsed at around four in the morning due to the incident.

According to police reports, Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi quickly arrived at the scene and started a relief and rescue operation after learning about the incident.

According to the police, other agencies at the scene include the fire department, the National Disaster Response Force, the State Disaster Response Force, and employees of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), which is in charge of tunnel construction.
