Burning Train

On Friday, a MEMU train in Gujarat's Dahod caught massive fire. The train numbered 09350, caught fire when it was crossing Jekot Village in Dohod.

The fire broke out in the compartment of Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit popularly called MEMU train.  A MEMU train operates for short and medium distance routes as against trains operating on long distances.

The fire caused havoc and panic among the passengers which were safely evacuated. As soon as the passengers gained knowledge of the incident, they rushed out of the coach to save their lives. No injuries were reported as all passengers were evacuated on time.

Firefighter reached the spot on time and successfully controlled the fire. The train was running from Dahod to Anand.

Railway officials from Dahod and Devgarhbaria took swift actions to reach the accident on time and took necessary steps to extinguish the fire.

Visuals of the accident shows fire blazes coming out of the coach windows in horrifying manner. The smoke was visible from far distance as well.

Police authorities and senior railway officials also reached the spot on time. Assistance superintendent of Police from Dahod K. Sidhant reached the incident after they got the news.  According to him, the fire that broke in one coach did not spread to other coaches.

The exact reason for the fire is unknow, however, according to reports the fire was caused by a short circuit. Investigation on the cause of the fire is underway. Rail routes between Delhi Bombay are current shut as a precautionary measure.
