The city of Ahmedabad is witnessing a disturbing surge in air pollution, raising concerns about the well-being of its residents. Several areas within the city have reported Air Quality Index (AQI) levels that far exceed safe limits, with Rakhial recording an alarming AQI of over 300, Navrangpura at 263 AQI, and Pirana at 184 AQI.

The overall AQI for Ahmedabad has reached 142, indicating a substantial deterioration in air quality.

As the cold season approaches and Diwali celebrations draw nearer, the urgency of addressing the pollution crisis becomes even more evident. While Ahmedabad may not face the same extreme pollution levels as Delhi during the winter months, the recent spike in air pollution demands immediate attention.

One notable concern is the apparent silence of pollution-warning boards that were previously installed across the city. These boards were intended to keep the public informed about air quality, especially during critical periods like Diwali when firecrackers contribute to air pollution. However, it has been observed that many of these boards have stopped functioning, leaving residents without crucial information.

The overall AQI for Ahmedabad stands at 142, indicating "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups."

It is crucial for the local authorities to address the rising pollution levels promptly. Public awareness campaigns, stricter enforcement of pollution control measures, and increased monitoring of air quality are essential steps to mitigate the pollution crisis.

As winter approaches and the festival season begins, it is imperative that the system takes responsibility for keeping citizens informed about the level of pollution in the city. Ahmedabad must take proactive measures to combat air pollution and ensure the health and well-being of its residents.
