Escape Timeline and Prison Oversight Failure

The jailbreak reportedly happened around 1:15 AM, but was only noticed during morning roll call. Govindachamy had been housed in the fourth cell of Block 10. His successful escape has sparked questions about surveillance lapses in a supposedly secure facility.

Notorious Convict Was Serving Life Sentence

Govindachamy, also known as Charley Thomas, was serving a life sentence for the rape of a 23-year-old woman who died after being assaulted and pushed from a train. Although initially sentenced to death, the Supreme Court later reduced the murder conviction to seven years while retaining the life term for rape.

Despite Disability, Escape Was Executed With Planning

Even with only one arm, Govindachamy managed to escape by tying clothes together and scaling the prison wall. His method and success in fleeing have shocked both officials and the public. The circumstances behind his escape remain unclear.

Kerala Police on High Alert Across the State

All police units across Kerala have been alerted. Surveillance has intensified at bus stands, railway stations, and interstate borders. Officials are actively investigating security failures and seeking public assistance in locating the fugitive.

Public, Political Outrage Over Security Breach

The incident has sparked widespread criticism and political backlash. With Govindachamy’s escape raising serious concerns, there are increasing demands for a full inquiry into the jail administration and their handling of high-profile inmates.

Helpline for Leads on Fugitive’s Whereabouts

Citizens with any information about Govindachamy’s whereabouts are urged to contact the Kerala Police at 9446899506. The public’s cooperation is crucial to the ongoing manhunt.
