Accident in tunnel under construction on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, 1 worker died and 3 injured
A major accident occurred during construction work late Saturday night in the 8-lane, five-kilometer-long tunnel being built near Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Four workers were buried under the debris due to soil collapse.

Police and ambulance immediately reached the spot as soon as they received the information. Four workers buried under the debris were pulled out and sent to the hospital. While two workers have been injured, who are being treated in the hospital. The fourth worker had suffered minor injuries and was not admitted.

Stir among the officials of National Highway Authority of India
After the accident, there was a stir among the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and they reached the spot late at night and took stock of the situation. Injured laborer Monu alleged that he was not given proper safety equipment during work.

While this accident happened outside the tunnel, not inside: National Highway Authority of India Project Director Kota PIU Sandeep Agarwal says that the accident happened outside the tunnel. The incident happened 200 meters before the tunnel. Where an artificial tunnel (cut and cover) is being constructed. It is being made entirely of cement concrete.
The laborers were doing the work of tying the rods for cement concrete. During this time, about 7 to 8 meters of soil slab fell. These laborers were buried in it. The people of the contractor firm present on the spot immediately started efforts to remove it.

Headquarters started inquiry, formed committee
Project Director Sandeep Agarwal says that the NHAI headquarters has formed a committee on this entire matter. It will conduct a complete safety audit. It will have tunnel experts; it will look into whatever shortcomings there have been regarding safety on the part of the contractor. We have also taken complete information about the incident. How the accident happened and what were the reasons, these are also being looked into.
