After being in Pakistan's custody for more than 20 days, Purnam Sahu has returned to India via Attari border. When Sahu's wife got the news of her husband's return to the country She was overjoyed.

BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw's wife Rajni said

While talking to the media, she said that today our whole family is very happy. When I talked to my husband on video call, I could not recognize him at first sight. He is fine. He told me that you don't worry, I have returned. Now after his return, all our tension is gone.

CM Mamata Banerjee also talked

The wife of BSF jawan P Sahu told that our chairman has contributed the most in my husband's return. Along with this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also supported me completely. She talked to me every day in the last three days. And finally today my husband returned home.

Let us tell you that Pakistan had detained him a day after the Pahalgam terrorist attack and since then the tension between the two countries was at its peak. India had launched Operation Sindoor in response to Pakistan's terrorism.

Amidst all this, Purnam Sahu's family was waiting for his return

BSF issued a statement In the statement, it was said, "Today BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Sah, who was in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since 23 April 2025, was handed over to India at around 10.30 am through the Joint Check Post Attari, Amritsar. The handover was done peacefully and as per established protocols." 40-year-old Purnam Sahu had inadvertently crossed the international border on 23 April and was later taken into custody by the 'Pakistan Rangers'.
