After IPL Exit, R Ashwin Confirms Talks With ILT20 Organisers
Veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin, who recently announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League, is now in talks with the organisers of the International League T20 (ILT20). If picked, the 38-year-old could feature in the league’s next edition, scheduled to run from December 2, 2025 to January 4, 2026 in the UAE.

Auction Details
For the first time, ILT20 will follow an auction system instead of the earlier draft format. The auction is set for September 30 in Dubai, while player registration will close on September 10. Ashwin has confirmed his interest, stating: “Yes, I am in talks with the organisers. Hopefully, I will have a buyer if I register for the auction.”
R Ashwin ’s Legacy
R Ashwin is India’s second-highest wicket-taker across formats, with 765 wickets in 287 international matches. His presence would make him the most high-profile Indian cricketer to participate in a global league outside of the IPL.
Other Indian Players
Former India batter Ambati Rayudu had earlier represented MI Emirates in the ILT20. However, R Ashwin’s stature as a Test match-winner and all-format performer makes his potential entry into the league far more significant.
