Constitution Debate In Lok Sabha: There is a possibility of a battle again in Parliament today regarding the tussle between BJP and Congress. Meanwhile Congress party has been demanded a discussion on the Adani issue, it has also demanded a discussion on the Constitution. After the deadlock in Parliament, the government also agreed to discuss the Constitution, and it is to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on 13 and 14 December.
There will be a two-day debate in the Lok Sabha on the occasion of completion of 75 years of adoption of the Indian Constitution. Although similar discussions will also be held in the Rajya Sabha on upcoming date of 16 and 17 December.
Uproar over Adani and Soros issue
The political deadlock has worsened mainly due to allegations linking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Adani controversy and counter-allegations of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's links with billionaire George Soros. These issues have led to several uproars and adjournments in both the Houses since November 25.
The Congress has continuously pressed for a discussion on the Adani issue. But its stand has not been supported by many opposition allies like the Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
Rajnath Singh to present government's side
While debate in the Lok Sabha will begin with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presenting the central government's side. Around 12-15 MPs of the BJP and its allies, including former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Shiv Sena's Srikant Shinde and Jitan Ram Manjhi, are expected to speak during the session.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the concluding speech on Saturday addressing the debate and opposition's counter-attacks, sources said. Rahul Gandhi, as the leader of the opposition, is likely to speak and will lead the Congress' aggressive stand keeping the focus on the Adani issue.
Mahua Moitra's address will also be closely watched
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra's address will also be closely watched, especially in view of her controversial expulsion during the last session of the previous Lok Sabha, her stance will be important. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will present the BJP's side in the Rajya Sabha on Monday while countering the opposition's Save Constitution campaign.
Both the BJP and the Congress on Thursday issued a strict three-line whip to their MPs, asking them to be present in the House on December 13-14 during the scheduled debate on the Constitution in India.
