Antim Panghal Faces Potential Three-Year Ban for Misconduct During Olympics
Wrestler Antim Panghal is likely to face a three-year ban from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) due to disciplinary issues that occurred during the Olympic Games, according to sources close to the Indian contingent.
Incident Details
Sources informed PTI that Panghal attempted to use her accreditation card to grant her sister access to the athletes' village. This unauthorized action led to embarrassment for the Indian Olympic team and prompted the IOA to consider a significant suspension for the wrestler.
Formal Decision Pending
The IOA plans to formally announce the ban once Panghal returns to India. The decision to send Panghal and her support staff back was made after French authorities alerted the Indian officials about the breach.
