Apple's India Expansion: Apple is increasingly shifting its focus to India as part of its strategy to diversify from China. This move is expected to create a substantial number of jobs in the country. According to a recent report by the Economic Times, Apple's growing presence in India could result in the creation of over 600,000 jobs.

Job Creation Projections

The report suggests that by the end of the current financial year, Apple may generate around 200,000 direct jobs in India. Remarkably, more than 70% of these positions are expected to be filled by women. Additionally, government projections indicate that for every direct job created, at least three indirect jobs are likely to follow, potentially leading to a total of 500,000 to 600,000 new employment opportunities.

For the first time, Apple plans to assemble its high-end iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in India. This production will take place at Foxconn Technology Group's facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in Apple's manufacturing shift to India.

This leadership change comes ahead of Apple's major product launches this fall, which analysts predict will include significant software upgrades, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI). These AI features are seen as crucial for Apple to address the slowdown in global sales, especially in China, and to stay competitive with rivals who have already integrated AI advancements.
