Are Schools Closed Today? Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after India stopped Pakistan’s attempt to target military bases. In response, many Indian states near the border have started emergency safety steps like closing schools, cutting off electricity at night, and stopping police and government staff from taking leave.

Punjab on High Alert

Punjab, which shares a 532 km border with Pakistan, is taking strict safety steps. The government has closed schools in six border districts:

Evening blackouts have started in places like Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh. All police leaves have been cancelled, and officers are on full alert. Minister Aman Arora said the state must stay ready during such tense times.

Haryana Steps Up

Haryana has also cancelled all leaves for police and health workers. Everyone has been asked to stay in their assigned districts and be ready for any emergency.

Delhi Tightens Safety

In Delhi, all government staff leaves are cancelled. District officers are reviewing disaster and health emergency plans to make sure the national capital is prepared.

Rajasthan Increases Security

Rajasthan, which shares over 1,000 km of border with Pakistan, has enforced night blackouts in cities like Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur from 9 pm to 4 am. Schools are closed in five western districts, and a red alert is in place in Sri Ganganagar.
Drone use and firecrackers are banned. Flights at Bikaner, Kishangarh, and Jodhpur airports are suspended until May 10.

Gujarat Coast on Alert

Gujarat, which shares both land and sea borders with Pakistan, has cancelled police leaves. Coastal districts like Jamnagar, Morbi, and Devbhumi Dwarka are under surveillance. People have been told to report anything unusual near boat docks or isolated villages.
