Bengal: Trinamool Congress has been filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India, alleging that Union Home Minister Amit Shah violated the Model Code of Conduct during his speech at a government event at the Petrapole land port on the India-Bangladesh border.

Meanwhile Home Minister Amit Shah, visited West Bengal and on Sunday. Although here the Union Minister presided over the inauguration of the Integrated Checkpost, Passenger Terminal Buildings and Maitri Dwar at the Petrapole land port in North 24 Parganas.

TMC complain in Election Commission

While speaking on the occasion, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) told the Election Commission, "We seek your immediate attention regarding the serious violation of the Model Code of Conduct committed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the inauguration."

The letter said Petrapole falls under the administrative district of North 24 Parganas where by-elections will be held on November 13 to two assembly seats, Haroa and Naihati.

Though Point 3 (i) (a) and (b) of the said guidelines of Election Commission   clearly directed that “ministers shall not combine their official tours with election campaign work and shall not use official machinery or personnel during election campaign work.

Government transport, including official aircraft, vehicles, machinery and personnel shall not be used to further the interest of the party in power.

Trinamool Congress has been appealed to the Election Commission of (ECI) to issue a show-cause notice to Home Minister Amit Shah and issue appropriate directions/orders to the concerned stakeholders to restrain Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leaders from violating the MC guidelines ahead of the by-elections in the six constituencies.
