RJD Gets Highest Vote Share, NDA Sweeps Seats

Bihar Election Results: The Bihar assembly elections delivered a surprising mix of numbers. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by its ally JDU, which won 85 seats. Together, the NDA secured a sweeping victory, winning 202 out of 243 constituencies. Yet, despite this dominance, the BJP did not secure the highest vote share.

Vote Share Twist

In an unexpected turnaround, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), led by Tejashwi Yadav, topped the vote share chart—even though it won only 25 seats. According to Election Commission data, the RJD registered the highest vote share at 23%, outperforming both BJP and JDU.

Party-wise Numbers

Here’s how each major party performed in terms of vote share:

RJD – 23% (highest vote share)

BJP – 20.8% (second-highest)

JDU – 19.25% (third position)

Congress – 8.71%, securing around 43 lakh votes

LJP (Ram Vilas) – 4.97% vote share

CPI (ML)L – 2.84% vote share

Opposition Response

The Opposition strongly rejected the verdict. Rahul Gandhi called the results “unfair from the beginning,” stating that Congress would continue fighting to safeguard democracy. Mallikarjun Kharge said the party will conduct a detailed analysis to understand the setback.

Pawan Khera described the election as “robbery in daylight,” while Jairam Ramesh alleged “large-scale vote theft orchestrated by the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Election Commission.”

Other Takeaways

Despite a high-voltage campaign, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj failed to secure even a single seat in the elections. The final numbers reaffirmed BJP’s seat dominance but highlighted RJD’s surprising lead in vote share.
