Bihar Rain Alert: Heavy Showers, Thunderstorm Likely in 10 Districts, IMD Issues Warning
Bihar Rain Alert: The weather in Bihar changed suddenly on Thursday. Many places saw heavy rain and strong winds. This gave relief from the heat but also caused serious problems like waterlogging, power cuts, and even loss of life.

Farmers Face Huge Crop Damage
While the rain brought cool air, it also damaged Rabi crops. According to experts, wheat crops were hit the hardest. Strong winds also damaged mango and litchi fruits. In some areas, water got collected in the fields, which may spoil moong crops too.
IMD Issues Orange Alert in 10 Districts
The Meteorological Center in Patna has warned of thunder, lightning, and winds blowing at 40-50 km/h in 10 districts: Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Purnia, Katihar, East Champaran, and West Champaran. These areas are under an orange alert for the next 24 hours.
Yellow Alert in Other Areas Including Patna
Other districts like Patna have been put under a yellow alert. Light rain, thunder, and winds up to 30-40 km/h are expected. This weather is likely to continue till April 14.
Drop in Temperature Brings Relief
Rain and clouds caused a drop in temperature. Patna recorded a maximum of 32.2°C, while Gaya was the hottest at 35.8°C. This fall in temperature brought relief but added to the trouble for farmers.
Power Cuts Across Many Areas
Due to the storm, over 50 power feeders were shut for hours. Areas like Danapur, Khagaul, Rajiv Nagar, and Patna City had no power for 4–5 hours. Banners and trees falling on wires caused short circuits and outages.
Over 2000 Power Complaints Registered
The power supply team received more than 2,000 calls on Thursday. Many areas got their power back only by late night, while some localities kept waiting for electricity till late evening.
Nawada and Bhabua Also Affected
In Nawada and Bhabua, a sudden storm hit in the afternoon. The city saw darkness during the day, and after heavy rain, there was waterlogging everywhere. People had to take shelter inside homes and shops.
More Rain Expected in 24 Hours
The IMD has warned that the stormy weather may continue for the next 24 hours with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h. People are advised to stay alert and avoid going outside during the storm.
