BRICS Summit: During the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for a unified approach to combat terrorism and terror financing. Speaking at the Closed Plenary Session on Wednesday, he highlighted that there should be no room for double standards when dealing with such serious issues.
PM Modi urged BRICS nations to cooperate strongly in addressing terrorism and its funding. He also stressed the importance of taking active measures to prevent the radicalization of young people. Additionally, he called for collaborative efforts to address the pending Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.

Expansion of BRICS
India is open to welcoming new countries as BRICS partner nations, but PM Modi stressed that all decisions should be made unanimously, respecting the views of founding members.
Reforming Global Institutions
He called for timely reforms in global institutions like the UN Security Council, Multilateral Development Banks, and the WTO. PM Modi emphasized that BRICS should aim to reform these institutions, not replace them.
Tackling Inflation and Ensuring Security
Containing inflation and ensuring security in sectors like food, energy, health, and water are critical priorities for all countries, PM Modi said. He also stressed the importance of meeting the hopes and aspirations of Global South countries.
Adapting to Changing Times
Modi pointed out that BRICS, formed by the convergence of different ideas and ideologies, continues to inspire positive cooperation and has the will to adapt to global changes.
