Bulldozer justice Supreme Court: No house can be demolished, if owner is a criminal

Bulldozer justice Supreme Court: The Supreme Court heard the case of bulldozer action against criminals on Monday. The next hearing on this case is on 17 September. Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said in the apex court that, according to municipal rules, illegal construction can be demolished only by giving notice.

SC heard the case of bulldozer action

Today the Supreme court heard the case of bulldozer action being taken against criminals in many states including Uttar Pradesh. While in  hearing, the Court asked how can someone's house be demolished just because he is an accused.

The petition alleges demolition of houses without notice.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in the apex court said that according to municipal rules, illegal construction can be demolished only by giving notice. After this, the Supreme Court said that we will make guidelines in this regard. All states should follow it. The Supreme Court will now hear the next case on the bulldozer action going on across the country on September 17

What Justice Gavai say?

Justice Gavai said that we request everyone to give their proposals to Senior Advocate Nachiketa Joshi. And here we also propose to set some guidelines at the country level, so that the concerns raised can be addressed. We appreciate the step taken by the UP government. However the immovable property can be demolished only according to the procedure established by law. UP Special Secretary Home has also filed an affidavit. We think it is appropriate that the lawyers of the parties give suggestions, so that the court can set guidelines that are applicable at the all-India level.
