Supreme Court Verdict in MUDA Case Sparks Shivakumar’s Attack on ED

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has strongly criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED), accusing it of being misused for political vendetta. Speaking in Kodihalli, Kanakapura, he cited his own legal troubles as evidence of selective action by the agency.

Supreme Court’s MUDA Verdict Sparks Fresh Allegations

Referring to the recent Supreme Court verdict in the MUDA land allotment case, Shivakumar said the court's dismissal of ED’s appeal reflects a pattern of targeting opposition leaders. He claimed that the observations by the apex court expose the lack of legal foundation in the ED’s actions.

“I Was Sent to Jail for a Case That Was Eventually Dropped”

Shivakumar pointed to his own experience with the ED, stating, “My case itself is proof. They jailed me, and eventually, the case didn’t stand.” He urged the agency to reflect on whether it is operating independently or under political pressure.

Congress Leaders Always Targeted, BJP Gets a Free Pass

Questioning the pattern of investigations, the Deputy CM asked, “Why is there no action against BJP leaders? Why are only Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra and other Congress members targeted?” He sarcastically added, “Has joining BJP suddenly made everyone clean?”

Courts Found No Merit in ED’s MUDA Allegations

The MUDA case involved land allotment to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi B M. The ED had raised allegations of irregularities, but the Karnataka High Court ruled that the agency’s action lacked legal basis under PMLA. This ruling was upheld by the Supreme Court, putting the matter to rest.

“ED Must Reflect on Its Role”

Urging the agency to reassess its conduct, Shivakumar emphasized that enforcement bodies should not be influenced by political interests. “The law must be the same for all, not a tool for political revenge,” he concluded.
