Dehradun Cloudburst: Houses, IT Park Submerged, 2 Missing
Dehradun Cloudburst: A powerful cloudburst in Sahastradhara on Monday night wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, submerging several houses and flooding the IT Park area. The Karligaad rivulet overflowed dangerously, sweeping through surrounding areas and leaving behind massive destruction.

Rescue Operations On
Authorities confirmed that two people are missing, and search operations are underway. Residents from the affected Tapovan and Sahastradhara localities have been shifted to safer areas. Bulldozers and heavy machinery are being used to clear debris as part of the relief efforts.
CM Dhami’s Statement
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took to social media, stating that some shops and homes were damaged in the flooding. He assured citizens that he is in constant touch with the district administration and is personally monitoring rescue and relief operations.

Officials Rush to Spot
District Magistrate Savin Bansal, along with SDM Kumkum Joshi and other officials, reached the affected site late at night to oversee the situation. The District Magistrate also directed rescue teams to intensify their search for the two missing persons.

NDRF and SDRF Deployed
Teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and PWD have been deployed on the ground, working through the night to handle the situation. A key bridge collapsed due to the rising water levels, adding to the challenges faced by the rescue teams.
Schools Closed in Dehradun
In view of the disaster, the District Magistrate issued orders for the closure of all schools from Classes 1 to 12 across Dehradun district on Tuesday. Authorities have urged people to stay alert and avoid waterlogged areas.
Recent Cloudburst Incidents
This isn’t the first such incident in the state. In August, a cloudburst in Chamoli’s Mopata village left two people missing and caused the death of 15–20 livestock. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dehradun to review the flood situation and chaired a high-level meeting on disaster preparedness.
