Delhi: CM letter - Do not demolish religious places, LG's reply - No order has been given

Chief Minister Atishi had written a letter to LG, saying that no temple and religious place should be demolished in Delhi. LG has responded to this.

Delhi Assembly Election 2025: The round of attack and counter- attack continues in Delhi regarding the letter. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Atishi wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena, in which she said that no temple and Buddhist religious place should be demolished in Delhi. Now LG has responded to this.

Delhi Chief Minister wrote a letter to LG VK Saxena

On CM Atishi's letter, the LG Secretariat said, "Neither any temple, mosque, church or any other place of worship is being demolished or destroyed, nor has any file related to it come. Reacting to her letter, the LG said that no such action is being taken and accused Atishi of doing cheap politics like Kejriwal. The Chief Minister is doing cheap politics to divert attention from her and her predecessor CM's failures.

Strict instructions issued to police

The LG Secretariat also said, "The LG has issued strict instructions to the police to be extra vigilant against forces that may deliberately vandalize for political gain. His instructions are being strictly followed, as was seen during the recent Christmas celebrations, in which no untoward incident took place."

CM Atishi had written a letter

Let us tell you that Delhi Chief Minister Atishi had written a letter to LG VK Saxena on the order of demolition of several religious buildings by the religious committee, in which she wrote, "On your instructions and with your approval, it has been decided by the religious committee to demolish several religious buildings across Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Tuesday wrote a letter to LG VK Saxena against the religious committee's order to demolish temples and Buddhist structures. In a letter to the LG, she said that demolishing religious structures can hurt the religious sentiments of the people. In her letter, she said, 'It has been brought to my notice that the Religious Committee has ordered the demolition of several religious structures across Delhi in a meeting dated November 22, 2024. Till last year, the decision of the Religious Committee used to go to the LG through the Delhi CM. But this procedure was not followed in the relevant order.'
