Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was assaulted this morning during a 'Jansunwai' (public hearing) at her residence. According to BJP leaders, a man in his 30s, posing as a complainant, suddenly attacked her. Security personnel on duty acted swiftly and nabbed the attacker on the spot.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Rushed to Hospital

The Chief Minister was immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile, senior officers of the Delhi Police reached her residence to secure the area and review the situation.

BJP Condemns Attack

Senior BJP leader Harish Khurana strongly condemned the incident, confirming that the attacker slapped the Chief Minister and pulled her hair. He added that it must be investigated whether the assault was politically motivated.

Political Conspiracy Suspected

BJP minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged that this could be part of a political conspiracy. He suggested that rivals are unable to tolerate the Chief Minister’s growing popularity and public connect. An investigation has been launched to determine who was behind the attacker.

Opposition Reacts Strongly

AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also condemned the attack, stressing that violence has no place in democracy. She said disagreements can be expressed peacefully, but such assaults must be dealt with strictly. She also wished for the Chief Minister’s speedy recovery.

Security Lapse Probe

Sources within the Delhi Police confirmed that a high-level inquiry will be conducted into this major security breach. Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh will personally oversee the investigation to ensure accountability.
