Delhi Doctors Plan Silent Protest: On Friday, all doctors' associations based in Delhi will participate in a silent protest at Rajiv Chowk. This demonstration aims to demand justice and enhanced safety for healthcare professionals following the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Doctors from institutions such as AIIMS, RML, Safdarjung, Maulana Azad Medical College, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Northern Railway Central Hospital, and others will join the protest.

The Delhi-based associations have decided to halt their strike and instead hold a weekly silent protest until justice is served for the victim. The decision was confirmed in an official notice from the associations.

West Bengal Chief Minister's Action

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a dharna (protest) on Saturday, August 31, calling for the death penalty for the accused in the Kolkata doctor's case.

Recent Developments in the Case

On August 30, Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reiterating her call for stricter central laws and severe punishments for serious crimes such as rape and murder. This was her second letter to the Prime Minister in recent days.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for over 140 hours. Ghosh is under scrutiny for his actions following the discovery of the doctor's body and is also facing investigation for financial misconduct at the hospital. A FIR has been filed against him and others in this case.

Additionally, an audio recording has surfaced of a conversation between the doctor’s parents and hospital staff from the morning after the body was found. The Kolkata Police has refuted claims in the audio clips suggesting that the victim’s parents were informed their daughter had committed suicide.

The victim's father denied that the viral audio clips were authentic and distanced himself from them. He stated that they did not know how the conversation had become public and would not take responsibility for it. He also mentioned that whether the voice in the clip was his or not would not affect the investigation.

The CBI has completed a second round of polygraph tests on Sandip Ghosh as part of the investigation into the rape and murder. A polygraph test was also conducted on the arrested suspect, Sanjay Roy.
