Delhi Pollution: Layer of smog around India Gate, many areas AQI crosses 350

Delhi Pollution: Level of pollution is continuously increasing in the capital, and its surrounding areas. While dust, vehicle smoke, and incidents of stubble burning in cities also make this problem more serious. A layer of smog is looming over the area around India Gate on the Kartavya Path.

Although the AQI in the area has been recorded at 357, which is placed in the 'very poor' category according to the CPCB. AQI has crossed 350 in many areas of Delhi NCR. Along with this, there is a problem of irritation in the eyes.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average AQI of Delhi was measured at 335 around 8 am today and the AQI of most areas also remains above 350.

Day by day the air of Delhi is also becoming stifling. Many stations like Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Rohini, Dwarka, Patparganj, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Jahangirpuri, Moti Bagh, Bawana and Punjabi Bagh are showing 350 (severe) AQI.

How to measure air quality?

If the AQI is between 301 to 400 then it is considered 'very bad' and if the AQI is between 401 to 500 then it is considered in the 'severe' category. Air pollution can cause many types of diseases.

GRAP detail

This is a government plan, which has been made against the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR. Pollution is controlled through this plan. Actually, it has many stages, and these stages also increase with increasing pollution. As the stages increase, the restrictions in Delhi also increase.

GRAP has four stages

Air in Delhi deteriorates from 201 to 300 AQI, then the first stage is implemented.

If the air becomes more polluted and the AQI reaches 301 to 400, then its second stage is implemented.

If the air becomes more polluted, AQI exceeds 400, then the third stage is implemented.

When the situation worsens, the fourth level of GRAP is implemented.

Restrictions are implemented under GRAP-2 in Delhi-NCR

Generators run on natural gas, biogas, LPG will be able to run.

Parking fees will be increased to reduce the use of private vehicles.

Generators with capacity of more than 800kwa will be able to run only if they get retrofitting done.

Steps to avoid pollution

To avoid pollution, cover your mouth and nose properly or wear a mask when you go out of the house. To avoid eye allergies, wear glasses. Use air purifiers at home in high pollution. At the same time, prevent children and elderly at home from going out. In such a situation, ask children who go to play in the park to play indoor games at home. If you go for morning and evening walks, then do not go out for a few days.
