Explosion Rocks Delhi's Prashant Vihar Again, Just a Month After Previous Blast
An explosion occurred in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area of Rohini on Thursday morning, raising concerns in the local community. This explosion comes just over a month after a similar blast took place in the same area. The incident occurred near the boundary wall of a park, and reports mention that a "white powder" was found scattered in the vicinity. The blast was reported to authorities at 11:48 AM, prompting a quick response from the Delhi Fire Service, which sent fire tenders to the location.
Emergency Response and Investigation
In addition to the fire service, teams from Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, Special Cell, and Bomb Disposal Squad quickly reached the site to assess the situation. The area was immediately cordoned off, and investigations were launched to determine the cause of the explosion.
Recap of the Previous Explosion
This recent blast follows a similar explosion that took place last month in Prashant Vihar. That blast caused a significant portion of a wall at the CRPF school to collapse, creating panic throughout the city. While no one was injured, the explosion prompted the involvement of major investigation agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the CRPF. Initial reports suggested the possibility of a crude bomb, but further investigation pointed to a different cause.
Cause of the Previous Blast
According to the findings of the investigation, the earlier explosion may have been triggered by burning cigarette butts discarded by a person walking his dog. These cigarette butts reportedly came in contact with industrial waste in a garbage dump, causing the blast. This discovery has led to questions about the potential dangers posed by such waste in the area.
Damage and Aftermath
The explosion on Thursday caused significant damage, including the destruction of part of the CRPF school wall and broken windows of nearby shops. Several parked cars were also damaged. The blast was powerful enough to be heard from several hundred meters away, alarming residents and businesses in the area. CCTV footage from the scene captured the damage caused by the explosion.
Ongoing Investigation
Following the explosion, several security agencies, including the NIA, National Security Guard (NSG), and the CRPF, have secured the area. Forensic experts have collected samples from the site to aid in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the blast. Authorities are working diligently to determine the full details and ensure the safety of the community.
