The Election Commission has organized a press conference regarding the assembly elections in the capital Delhi. During this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that this is my last PC. He appealed to the voters, especially the young voters, to keep voting in the same way. He said that we set a new record of maximum voting in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the number of voters in the electoral roles has crossed 90 crores, soon we will have 1 billion voters.

Questions raised on EVM

Regarding the Delhi elections, he said that we hope that Delhi will vote wholeheartedly. There were so many achievements during the elections, but some concerns also came with it. During this, it was said that the counting of votes was done in a wrong manner. It is also said that the names of groups or localities were cut off. It was said about EVMs that they can be manipulated. Along with this, it was said that how the voter turnout increased after 5 o'clock, there was a mismatch between voters and counting, counting was slowed down, all these issues were raised.

Voter list is prepared after the survey

He said that there can be no deletion in this regard. India needs to know that there is no such process in which verification happens every year. Every year its survey is done, which starts in October. Two copies are given to each party. If there is any objection, tell us. A copy of the draft is published at the polling station in every village. In such a situation, it cannot be deleted. This happens every year.

Where there is a fight for every single vote, what will happen if you delete a name from a seat? Suppose if there is a one percent difference somewhere, then there is time from 5 January to 1 October, but during this time no information is given whether the name has been deleted or added. If one or two names are misplaced, then that too is corrected.

EVM cannot be hacked

On hacking of EVM, he said that EVM is commissioned 7-8 days before the date of election. After this, mock poll is done in front of the agent. Battery is put in EVM on the same day, EVM is sealed on the same day. After this, on the day of polling, the seal is broken at the polling booth in front of them. Polling agents are there the whole day too. In the evening, the number of votes is told to them in Form 17C.

After this, EVM is brought back, it is sealed in front of the polling agent. On the day of counting also, the seal of EVM is opened in front of them. After this, they are asked to match the number of votes on the basis of Form 17C. Votes of any five VVPATs are counted in front of the polling booth. EVM cannot be hacked. There cannot be any virus or bug.

Summary

He targeted Elon Musk without naming him. The Chief Election Commissioner said that a global IT expert had said that EVMs can be hacked. Now he is saying that it took us one and a half months to count whereas in India the counting is done in just one day.
