G7 Summit 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 51st G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada, as part of his three-nation tour. Within a span of just 10 hours, PM Modi held 12 high-level bilateral meetings, signaling India’s increasing diplomatic engagement and leadership on global issues.

Bilateral Bonding with Canada: A Fresh Start

In his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, PM Modi extended gratitude for the G7 invitation and revisited India-Canada diplomatic relations after nearly a decade. Discussions touched on democracy, trade, clean energy, and critical minerals, with both leaders committing to deepen cooperation in strategic areas.

A New Chapter in India-Mexico Relations

PM Modi’s first meeting with Mexican President Claudia Schiffer focused on trade, pharma, agriculture, and digital innovation. The two leaders acknowledged the vast potential of the India-Mexico relationship and shared views on supporting the Global South. PM Modi also extended a personal invitation to the Mexican President to visit India.

Australia and India Eye Green Growth and Tech Collaboration

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and PM Modi explored opportunities in green hydrogen, shipbuilding, and tech partnerships. Both leaders emphasized the need for increased bilateral collaboration in clean energy and sustainable development sectors.

Italy-India Friendship Grows Stronger

PM Modi met Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, highlighting the warm and evolving partnership between India and Italy. He reaffirmed that the growing friendship would benefit both nations’ citizens and foster future trade and cultural exchanges.

South Africa Acknowledges India’s Voice for the Global South

In his meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, PM Modi was praised for representing the Global South effectively. The dialogue centered on strengthening ties and cooperating on international platforms for a balanced world order.

India and South Korea: Strengthening Strategic Ties

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and PM Modi discussed enhancing their special strategic partnership, particularly in green hydrogen, shipbuilding, trade, and cultural ties. Both leaders stressed the importance of aligning on regional and global challenges.

Reviving Indo-Japan Ties Through Bilateral Vision

Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba and PM Modi held intensive talks during the summit. Their conversation revolved around deepening collaboration in technology, defence, and regional peace, as both nations reaffirmed their commitment to shared strategic goals.

25 Years of Indo-German Strategic Partnership

PM Modi’s meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz marked 25 years of strong Indo-German ties. Discussions included areas like defence, education, innovation, and clean energy, with Germany expressing continued support in India's anti-terror efforts.

Elevating Indo-UK Relations with Trade at the Core

British PM Keir Starmer and PM Modi had a constructive discussion on expanding trade relations. PM Modi described the interaction as “extraordinary,” underlining the growing momentum in India-UK commercial and strategic cooperation.

Brazil and South Africa: Building on Friendship and South-South Solidarity

In separate but friendly conversations, PM Modi engaged with Brazilian President Lula da Silva and South African President Ramaphosa. The emphasis was on deepening multilateral cooperation and working collectively for the advancement of emerging economies.
