Ahmedabad: April 24, 2024: The Gujarat Super League (GSL) is a major initiative in franchise- based football league in Gujarat. The prestigious trophy for the GSL was unveiled today amid great fanfare by Rajya Sabha Member and President of the Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) Shri ParimalNathwani. The participating team owners, sponsors and supporters of the GSL remained present on this occasion. Shri Nathwani on this occasion said that the franchise-based football league is happening for the first time in the state. It is a major initiative of the GSFA in strengthening the football sports in Gujarat.

The GSFA takes pride in the fact that the entrepreneurs and businessmen of Gujarat whole-heartedly welcomed the idea of the GSL and readily agreed to own the team. Each team owner fondly named his team. Thus, the Six teams which will be participating in the GSL tournament are:  Ahmedabad Avengers (God TMT and Vivan Steel Pvt Ltd), Gandhinagar Giants (ANVI Sports), Karnavati Knights (THE ADDRESS), Saurashtra Spartans (Axita Cotton Limited & BEELINE), Surat Strikers(Loyal Equipments Limited), Vadodara Warriors (K AND D Communication Ltd).

Shri Nathwani said, “Gujarat is far behind from other states when it comes to popularity of football. Gujarat Super League is a small initiative in direction of making football popular in the state. Currently, there are six teams in GSL and we plan to take it to 12 in coming three-four years.”

With the Tourism Corporation ofGujarat Limited (TCGL) and the Sports Authority of Gujarat as the main sponsor and associate sponsor of the GSL respectively, the trophy unveiling event underlined a collective commitment to elevate football in the State. Football players from 10 States of India are participating in this league. This will provide an enriched experience as well as exposure to the football players of Gujarat.

Since April 15, teams have converged with unwavering dedication and sharpening their skills on the grounds of IIT, PDEU & GFC. Each practice session has been a testament to the indomitable spirit driving Gujarat towards football excellence.

The GSL tournament is scheduled to take place from 1st May to 12th May 2024 at the EKA Arena, TransStadia in Ahmedabad. The match days are 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 10th of May. Final will be played on 12th May 2024. The GSL matches are destined to be promising and exhilarating and would provide some unforgettable moments for football enthusiasts.

Each team will play one match against each other, and the top two teams will play the final match on 12th May 2024 at 7 p.m.

The winner of GSL will get prize money of Rs. 11 lakh, while runners up will get prize money of Rs. 5 lakh. Apart from this, the best players in eight different categories will get prize of Rs. 25,000 each on the basis of their performance throughout the tournament. To encourage the players, the daily allowance of Rs. 1500-2000 will be give to them from starting of the practice, said GSFA Hon. Gen. Secretary Shri MulrajsinhChudasama.

With unveiling of the GSL trophy, the spotlight now turns to the tournament. The excitement permeates the air, setting the stage for a riveting display of football prowess in Gujarat.

Shri MulrajsinhChudasama, Hon. Gen. Secretary of GSFA conducted the unveiling ceremony of the trophy in august presence of GSFA officebearers and executive committee members.

The season ticket of GSL matches is priced at Rs. 499, while the tickets for the final match will be available at price of Rs. 399. Tickets will be available on BookMyShow.
