Gujarat: Fire breaks out at steel plant in Surat, 4 workers die tragically

Gujarat, Surat Steel Plant Fire: A fire broke out in a steel plant located in Hazira Industrial Area in Surat, Gujarat on Tuesday evening. In which four workers died, and one person was injured. Who has been admitted to the hospital. At the same time, the bodies of three of the four people killed in this incident have been taken to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. It is being told that this accident happened due to the failure of an equipment in the Corex plant.

Four workers died in the fire and an injured person is undergoing treatment in the hospital. It is being told that a part of the plant caught fire due to the spread of burning coal. At present the matter is being investigated.

All four people were in the lift during the accident

Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that this incident took place in ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AM/NS India). He said, "We have received information that a fire broke out in a part of the plant due to sudden spread of burning coal. Four workers died in the fire. They were in the lift of the plant at this time." Gehlot said that the police as well as the factory inspector will investigate the incident. An official of the Hazira police station said that no accidental death report has been registered so far.

Condition of the injured person improves

The company spokesperson said in a statement that the incident occurred due to failure of an equipment in the Corex plant. He said, "We regret the accident caused by the failure of an equipment in the Corex plant. The accident occurred at around six o'clock this evening. Four contract workers of a private company, who were doing maintenance work on a nearby lift (elevator), got caught in it, due to which they died." It said that a worker suffered minor injuries and was immediately admitted to a hospital located in the plant premises, where his condition is improving.

Internal investigation of the accident started

All emergency protocols have been activated immediately, and the area has been cordoned off. We are working closely with the concerned authorities and have started an internal investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident."
