Heavy Rain in Gujarat Halts Life: Palanpur Highway Jammed, Cities Waterlogged

Gujarat Weather Update: Since Saturday evening, Gujarat has been witnessing relentless rains, disrupting daily life across several districts. Key roads are submerged, underpasses flooded, and normal traffic has come to a standstill.

State Highway Jammed for 10 Hours

A massive 10-kilometre-long traffic jam has been reported on the Palanpur-Ahmedabad State Highway, particularly near Chhapi in Banaskantha. Vehicles, including State Transport buses, have been stuck since 2 AM due to heavy waterlogging caused by clogged drains. The situation remains unresolved even after several hours, leaving passengers frustrated and stranded.

Rainwater Enters Homes in Modasa

In Aravalli's Modasa town, society areas like Kedarnath and Badrinath are heavily flooded, with water seeping into homes and roads becoming impassable. Residents expressed anger toward the municipal authorities, claiming their repeated complaints during monsoon seasons have gone ignored. Farmlands near Kolikad now resemble lakes due to the accumulation of rainwater.

Nadiad Braces for Flood Threat

Kheda district, especially Nadiad, has been hit hard by downpours since morning. As much as 7.5 inches of rainfall has been recorded, submerging low-lying areas like VKV Road, Dumral Bazaar, and College Road. All four underpasses connecting the east and west of the city are underwater. With heavy rains continuing, officials warn of a possible flood-like situation.
