Heavy Rains Soak Mumbai; More Showers Expected This Week, Says IMD
Heavy Rains: Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs were drenched in heavy rain on Monday, July 21. The downpour led to a wet start to the week for the city, which has been experiencing frequent rain spells in July. Local train services faced minor disruptions, and commuters were seen navigating through waterlogged streets in parts of the city.

IMD Predicts Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Across Konkan and Goa
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places across Konkan, Goa, and the ghat regions of central Maharashtra. The weather alert is valid till July 26, urging residents and local authorities to stay prepared for possible waterlogging or landslides in vulnerable areas.

Rain Bands to Shift from Western to Central Suburbs
An early morning update from the popular X (formerly Twitter) handle Mumbai Rains around 6:01 am indicated a shift in rain activity. It stated that “Areas in central suburbs should be on target as rain bands will move from Western suburbs,” suggesting more intense rainfall was expected inland through the day.

Mumbai’s Drinking Water Reserves Get a Boost
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported a significant rise in water levels across the city’s main reservoirs. As of July 19, the total water stock across the seven reservoirs reached 81.86% of their full capacity. This translates to a storage of 11,84,796 million litres, providing a sigh of relief in terms of water supply for the city.
