Earlier, Aadhaar cards could be downloaded using platforms like the UIDAI portal or DigiLocker. With this integration, users can now securely download Aadhaar and other linked documents directly in WhatsApp, without installing any extra applications.

Requirements for Use

To avail this service, you must have a mobile number linked with Aadhaar and an active DigiLocker account. Users also need to save the official MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number: 91-9013151515.

Step-by-Step Guide

The process is simple. Start a chat with the MyGov Helpdesk by typing “Hi” or “Namaste.” Next, choose DigiLocker services, confirm your account, and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Once verified, the chatbot shows a list of linked documents. By selecting Aadhaar, you’ll receive your card in PDF format directly on WhatsApp.

Key Limitations

Currently, only one document can be downloaded at a time. Also, Aadhaar and other documents must already be linked with DigiLocker. If your Aadhaar is not linked, you need to update it via the DigiLocker website or mobile app before using the WhatsApp service.
