IMD issues yellow alert as Delhi NCR sees rain after record heat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in Delhi-NCR. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Delhi and surrounding areas today. A yellow alert has also been issued regarding rain. The India Meteorological Department said that light rain or drizzle is occurring at many places in Delhi, NCR.

These include Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh.

According to IMD, light to moderate rain is likely in Narwana, Rajound, Assandh, Safidon, Barwala, Jind (Haryana). Light rain or drizzle may occur at some places in Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Pitampura, Delhi University, Civil Lines, Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri, Mundaka, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport, Ayanagar, Dera Mandi).

Apart from this, light to moderate rain may occur in Panipat, Gohana, Ganaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda (Haryana). There is also a possibility of lightning. IMD said that light to moderate rain is likely in Karnal, Rajound, Assandh, Safidon (Haryana), Shamli, Kandhla (UP).

At the same time, IMD has issued an alert of rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region. The IMD said that the ongoing rain or snowfall activity in the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh,

Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive rain. The weather activity is likely to continue during the day today.

The India Meteorological Department said that due to an active western disturbance, heavy rain or snowfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during February 26-28 and in Uttarakhand on February 27 and 28.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely over the plains of northwest India during February 26 to 28, 2025. At the same time, heat wave is expected to form in different parts of Konkan during the next 24 hours.

At present, there is a forecast of strong winds along with light rain for 2 days before the end of February. Two days of rain will give relief to people from the heat. It will make you feel mild cold, and the weather will remain the same till March 3. However, after March 3, major changes will be seen in the weather.

Delhi's air reaches poor category

At the same time, the air of the capital has reached the poor category. On Wednesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 247. This is the poor category of air. It increased by 39 indexes compared to Tuesday.

Due to poor air quality, people felt irritation in the eyes and difficulty in breathing in the air. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has predicted that the air quality will remain in the poor category for the next 2 days. Pollution levels may reduce from Saturday.
