India’s Day 14 at the Paris Olympics: Golf, Athletics, Wrestling, and Medal Updates
Day 14 of India's campaign at the Paris Olympics kicked off with golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar competing in the third round of individual stroke play. In athletics, the women’s 4x400m relay team finished eighth in their heat with a time of 3:32.51, while the men’s 4x400m relay team was also eliminated. The women’s team comprised Rupal Chaudhary, MR Poovamma, Jyothika Sri, and Subha Venkaresan. The men’s team included Muhammad Anas, Muhammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Jacob.
Wrestling Highlights
In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat will compete for a bronze medal in the men’s 57kg category in the latter part of the day. Additionally, Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against her disqualification has been accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing is scheduled to begin around 1 PM IST in Paris.
Medal Achievements
India’s medal tally rose to five on Thursday. Neeraj Chopra earned a silver medal in men’s javelin throw. Although Chopra threw 1.87 meters further than his Tokyo performance, he fell short of gold. The gold medal went to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record with a 92.97-meter throw. Additionally, the Indian men’s hockey team secured a bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match.
Wrestling Results
In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 57kg category but lost to Japan’s Rei Higuchi and will now contest for bronze.
