On Day 7 of the Games, India’s para-athletes achieved a historic milestone, securing their best-ever medal tally. The nation won four medals, highlighted by Harvinder Singh’s groundbreaking gold in Archery, marking India’s first-ever gold medal in this event at the Paralympics. Additionally, Dharambir and Pranav Soorma made history by winning gold and silver, respectively, in the men’s club throw F51. Sachin Sarjerao Khilari also contributed with a silver medal in the Men’s Shot Put – F46 final.

Current Medal Standing

With these remarkable results, India has climbed to 13th place in the overall medal standings, boasting a total of 24 medals. This includes five gold, nine silver, and ten bronze. As Day 8 approaches, the para-athletes are poised for further success, with seven more medal events scheduled.

Here’s what to expect from India’s para-athletes on Thursday, September 5:

1:00 PM
Para Shooting: Siddharth Babu and Mona Agarwal will compete in the Mixed 50M Rifle Prone SH1 Qualification round. They will also have a chance to advance to the medal rounds later in the day.

1:30 PM Onwards
Blind Judo:

Kapil Parmar will participate in the Men’s J1 – 60 KG Preliminary Rounds

Kokila will compete in the Women’s J2 – 48 KG Preliminary Rounds

1:50 PM
Para Archery: Harvinder Singh and Pooja will take part in the Mixed Team Recurve Open 1/8 Elimination Round.

3:10 PM
Para Athletics: Simran will run in the Women’s 100M T12 Semi Final.

3:15 PM Medal Event
Para Shooting: Siddharth Babu and Mona Agarwal will compete in the Mixed 50M Rifle Prone SH1 Final (if they qualify).

6:30 PM
Para Archery: Harvinder Singh and Pooja will compete in the Mixed Team Recurve Open Quarter Final (if they qualify).

7:30 PM Onwards Medal Events

Kapil Parmar will compete in the Men’s J1 – 60 KG Final Block (if he qualifies)

Para Archery: Harvinder Singh and Pooja will compete in the Mixed Team Recurve Open Bronze Medal Match (if they qualify).

9:05 PM Onwards Medal Event
Para Archery: Harvinder Singh and Pooja will vie for the Gold Medal in the Mixed Team Recurve Open (if they qualify).

10:05 PM Medal Event
Para Powerlifting: Ashok will compete in the Men’s Up to 65KG Final.

10:47 PM Medal Event
Para Athletics: Simran will compete in the Women’s 100M T-12 Final (if she qualifies).

11:49 PM Medal Event
Para Athletics: Arvind will participate in the Men’s Shot Put – F35 Final.
