IPL 2025 Suspended for One Week Amid India-Pakistan Tension: BCCI Issues Statement
IPL 2025 Suspended: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for one week with immediate effect. This decision was made due to rising security concerns following military actions between India and Pakistan.

Match Called Off Over Security Alert
The suspension came after Thursday’s match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was cancelled. The cancellation was triggered when the stadium’s floodlights failed, and a red alert was issued in Jammu. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal said it was a safety precaution.
Military Strikes After Pahalgam Attack
The Indian military carried out precision strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The action followed a deadly attack in Pahalgam where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. Key terror group bases of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba were among the targets.
BCCI’s Official Statement on IPL Suspension
The BCCI announced the one-week suspension of IPL 2025 in the interest of all involved. The decision was taken after consultations with IPL franchisees, broadcasters, sponsors, and fans. The board said it trusted the Indian armed forces but wanted to prioritize safety and unity.
A revised schedule and new match venues will be shared after a full review of the situation in consultation with authorities.
