J&K: Crack in the alliance... Congress & National Conference MLA clashed in Assembly

It was said that everything was fine between Congress and National Conference. On Friday, the scene in the House seemed to have changed.

J&K: Assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. While the elections were almost peaceful. After the elections, Congress-National Conference coalition government was formed. Omar Abdullah taken charge of the Union Territory and took oath as the Chief Minister. It was said that everything was fine between Congress and National Conference.

However, on Friday, the scene in the House seemed to have changed. When the Congress MLAs were speaking in the House, instead of the opposition parties, the leaders of the National Conference started interrupting them.

After this, a heated debate started in the Assembly. During this time, it seemed as if a debate was going on between the ruling and opposition parties.

All is not well in alliance

Actually, Congress MLA and party's Chief Whip in the Assembly Nizamuddin Bhat was giving his opinion on some issue. He was presenting his point in the House when the MLAs of the alliance and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's party National Conference started interrupting him.

This made the attitude of other Congress MLAs including Nizamuddin heated up. A heated debate started between the two sides in no time. It seemed as if two opposition leaders had clashed with each other in the House.

Scuffle, sloganeering in the Assembly

Earlier on Thursday, there was a fierce scuffle between the MLAs in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. The ruling party and the opposition BJP MLAs grabbed each other's collars and started pushing each other.

Due to the uproar in the House, the proceedings of the Assembly were first adjourned for 20 minutes, then for the whole day. PDP MLA Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh waved the banner and demanded Article 370 return in the House. It was written on the banner, 'We want the restoration of Article 370 and 35A and the release of all political prisoners.' BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma opposed this. Opposition members started sloganeering. The atmosphere got heated in no time.

Serious allegations

Let us tell you that the brother of Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh, who waved the banner in the House, is accused of terror funding. MLA Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh, who waved the banner, is the brother of Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid from Baramulla. Rashid was arrested under UAPA in 2016 on charges of terror funding in the Valley.
