Kerala Woman Greeshma Sentenced to Death for Poisoning Boyfriend Sharon Raj
In a chilling case of betrayal and premeditated murder, a sessions court in Neyyattinkara, Kerala, sentenced 24-year-old Greeshma to death for poisoning her boyfriend Sharon Raj in 2022.

Case Overview
Greeshma, a resident of Kanyakumari, had been in a relationship with Sharon since 2021. However, after her family arranged her marriage to a military officer in March 2022, she allegedly sought to end her relationship with Sharon in the most sinister way.
The Murder Plot
The prosecution revealed that Greeshma conducted extensive online research on poisoning methods and made multiple failed attempts to harm Sharon by lacing his food and drinks with painkillers.
On October 14, 2022, she invited Sharon to her house and served him a medicinal ayurvedic drink spiked with herbicide. The naturally bitter taste of the concoction helped mask the poison. Sharon fell ill shortly afterward, experiencing severe vomiting and unease.
Sharon's Tragic Death
Despite hospitalization, 23-year-old Sharon succumbed to multiple organ failure on October 25, 2022, at the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Before his death, Sharon had confided in a friend, expressing suspicion that Greeshma had poisoned him.
Investigation and Sentencing
Greeshma was arrested on October 31, 2022, along with her mother and uncle, who were accused of abetting the crime and tampering with evidence. While her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, received a three-year jail term, her mother was acquitted.
The court found Greeshma guilty under IPC sections for murder, poisoning, and destruction of evidence, among others.
Motive Behind the Crime
Greeshma allegedly feared that Sharon would share intimate visuals of their relationship with her fiancé. This fear drove her to plan and execute the murder.
