Maharashtra Records First Suspected Death Due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome
A 40-year-old man from Solapur, Maharashtra, has become the first suspected death due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) in the state. The patient, who had visited his native village, was hospitalised on January 18 after experiencing cold, cough, and breathing problems. Initially admitted to the ICU, he showed some improvement but later succumbed after his health deteriorated again.
Before passing away, he suffered from breathing issues and limb paralysis. Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, Dean of Solapur’s Government Medical College, confirmed the death was likely caused by GBS based on preliminary findings.
