Before the last rites, the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister are wrapped in the national flag of India, the tricolor. Apart from this, he is also given a 21-gun salute during the funeral. This salute is considered a symbol of the highest state honor.

Central government canceled all programs
The last rites of the former Prime Ministers of the country are performed at special memorial sites in Delhi, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were cremated at the Rajghat complex. At the same time, a separate samadhi sthal is also built for many former Prime Ministers.
