MCD standing committee election: Big win for BJP in MCD election, AAP won in 5 zones
MCD standing committee election: Today date belongs to BJP, the party registered a big win in the standing committee election of Delhi Municipal Corporation. Out of all the 12 zones of MCD, BJP has won in seven zones. While Aam Aadmi Party has won in five zones. As by sources. BJP candidates have also won from Narela and Central zones.
Standing Committee Chairman selection through lucky draw
In the meanwhile, out of 18 members of the standing committee, AAP has 8 (elected from 5 zones and 3 from the House). Whereas, BJP has 9 (elected from 7 zones and 2 from the House). The third member of BJP who won in the House was Kamaljeet Shehrawat who has now become an MP. Therefore, BJP has two members in the House. Voting will be held again in the House for the seat which has fallen vacant in place of Kamaljit Shehrawat. If AAP wins in this, then AAP will have 9 members and BJP will have 9 members. Because of this the Chairman of the Standing Committee will be selected through lucky draw.

How AAP got victory in those seats
AAP councilor Rakesh Joshi from Karol Bagh zone has been elected unopposed as the President while Jyoti Gautam and Ankush Narang have been elected as Vice President and Member of Standing Committee respectively. BJP did not field any of its candidates here, AAP candidates Mohammad Sadiq, Kiran Bala and Punardeep Singh Sahni were elected unopposed as the President, Vice President and Member of Standing Committee of the Ward Committee.
Election of the Standing Committee is important
From Rohini seat AAP's Suman Anil Rana defeated BJP and won the post of President, while Dharamrakshak and Daulat won the posts of Vice President and Member of Standing Committee due to BJP withdrawing the names of its candidates. In the West Zone, BJP withdrew the names of its candidates for all three posts. While the Standing Committee is considered to be the strongest institution in the Delhi Municipal Corporation.
