Mexican Navy Ship Crashes Into Brooklyn Bridge, 19 Injured
A big sailing ship from the Mexican Navy hit the Brooklyn Bridge in New York on Saturday. The accident happened while the ship was on a promotional tour.

Videos on social media show the tall masts of the ship crashing into the Brooklyn bridge and breaking. Some people were seen hanging onto the masts as they broke. One witness said they saw someone hanging from a harness for around 15 minutes before being rescued.

19 People Hurt, 4 Seriously Injured
New York Mayor Eric Adams said in a press conference that 19 people were injured, including four seriously. All injuries happened on the ship. No one on the bridge was hurt.
Ship Named Cuauhtémoc
The ship is called Cuauhtémoc. It is a 297-foot long and 40-foot wide training vessel used by the Mexican Navy. The navy confirmed the ship was damaged and could not continue its journey after the crash.
Long Global Tour Planned
This ship left from Acapulco, Mexico on April 6 with 277 people on board. It was scheduled to visit 22 ports in 15 countries including Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico, Iceland, France, and Scotland. The journey was supposed to last 254 days, with 170 days at sea.
