Lashkar-e-Jihadi Threat
According to Mumbai Police, the threat was issued by an organisation called Lashkar-e-Jihadi. The warning came just ahead of Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of Ganesh Chaturthi, when lakhs of devotees participate in visarjan processions across Mumbai.
Security During Visarjan
Ganesh Chaturthi immersions are one of Mumbai’s biggest celebrations, drawing massive crowds. With the looming bomb threat, police presence has been increased across sensitive zones, visarjan routes, and major gathering points to ensure public safety.
Past Hoax Threats
This is not the first time Mumbai has faced such threats. Earlier this week, a 43-year-old man was arrested for making a hoax bomb call in Thane, claiming a railway station would be blown up. In August, the ISKCON Temple in Girgaon also received a threat email, which turned out to be fake after thorough checks.
Recent Bomb Alerts
The ISKCON Temple had also faced a similar email threat in September. On July 25, Mumbai Police had received a warning call about a possible blast at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). In both cases, nothing suspicious was found. Police continue to treat every threat seriously to avoid risks.
