The Mumbai Police arrested a man in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday for allegedly issuing a death threat to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. The threat was made last week and demanded Rs. 50 lakh from the actor. The police traced the call to a lawyer named Faizan Khan, who was later arrested for his alleged involvement.

The Threat and Police Investigation

Last week, the Bandra police station in Mumbai received a threatening phone call targeting Shah Rukh Khan. The caller demanded Rs. 50 lakh and threatened the actor with harm. Following this, the police registered a case under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Upon investigating the call, the police tracked the phone number used to make the threat. The number was registered in the name of Faizan Khan, a lawyer based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This led the Mumbai police to summon Faizan Khan for questioning. However, when he failed to appear, the police decided to arrest him.

Faizan Khan’s Claim

Faizan Khan was called in for questioning by the Mumbai Police, who traveled to Raipur for the investigation. The police learned that Faizan Khan had reported his phone as stolen. According to Faizan, his phone was lost on November 2, and he had filed a complaint at the Khamardih police station in Raipur, informing them about the theft.

In an interview with the media, Faizan Khan stated that the threat call made from his phone number was part of a conspiracy against him. He explained that his phone had been stolen on November 2, and he had reported the theft to the Khamardih police station. He also mentioned that he had informed the Mumbai police about the incident, and they had interrogated him for about two hours.

Objection over Film Dialogue

In addition to the theft claim, Faizan Khan mentioned that he had previously lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan over a controversial dialogue in the actor's 1994 movie Anjaam. According to Faizan, the dialogue referred to deer hunting, which he found offensive because of his connection to the Bishnoi community of Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community follows the tradition of protecting deer, and Faizan, who said he was a friend of this community, stated that he objected to the reference in the film.

Faizan Khan explained that he was originally from Rajasthan and had strong ties with the Bishnoi community, which is known for its religious belief in protecting deer. He mentioned that as a Muslim, he found it objectionable if anyone, including a Muslim, made negative comments about deer, which is sacred to the Bishnoi community. Faizan said that’s why he had objected to a dialogue in Shah Rukh Khan’s 1994 film Anjaam that referenced deer hunting.

In his defense, Faizan Khan insisted that the threat call made from his phone was part of a larger conspiracy against him. He strongly denied any involvement in the crime and maintained that he was being framed. Faizan stated that whoever had made the call from his phone did so intentionally and that he believed it was all a plot to target him.
