Murder of Baba Siddique Linked to Plot Against Salman Khan
The recent murder of Baba Siddique, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, has taken a shocking turn, with reports revealing that the accused had originally planned to target Bollywood actor Salman Khan. According to India Today, one of the accused disclosed during questioning that Salman Khan had been on their hit list, but due to tight security, he was difficult to reach. The plot was redirected to Baba Siddique, resulting in his tragic death.
Details of the Murder
On October 12, Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East, Mumbai. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead after two gunshot wounds were found in his chest. The police quickly linked the murder to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for its ongoing feud with Salman Khan.
Connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang
The three assailants involved in the murder were reportedly affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This gang has had a long-standing grudge against Salman Khan, dating back to the actor’s alleged involvement in the hunting of a blackbuck, a sacred animal to the Bishnoi community. In April 2023, two gunmen linked to the gang fired shots outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra. Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, the shooters, were later detained in Gujarat.
Threats Against Salman Khan
Salman Khan has faced numerous threats, both from the Bishnoi gang and others. In November, a man claiming to be Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother threatened the actor, demanding an apology or a payout of Rs. 5 crore for the killing of the blackbuck. In addition, a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur was arrested in October for attempting to extort Rs. 5 crore from Khan. A death threat followed, asking the actor to pay Rs.2 crore. A 20-year-old man from Noida was recently apprehended for threatening the actor over a phone call.
Salman Khan's Security Measures
In response to the increasing threats, Salman Khan has been provided with Y+ security, and his residence has seen enhanced security measures. To ensure his safety, high-resolution AI-powered CCTV cameras with facial recognition technology have been installed around his home.
