No Radiation Leak in Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, Confirms IAEA
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has officially confirmed that there was no radiation leak from any nuclear facility in Pakistan. This statement comes after multiple unverified reports suggested that Indian airstrikes had hit Kirana Hills in Pakistan’s Sargodha region, causing a radioactive leak during an operation called Operation Sindoor.
A spokesperson from the IAEA, Fredrik Dahl, told the Times of India that their data shows no signs of any nuclear release or radiation leak in Pakistan.

False Reports About Missile Strikes and Radiation
There were several rumours online and in international media that Indian missiles hit Pakistan’s nuclear sites and caused a dangerous radiation leak. These claims gained attention after flight tracking websites showed U.S. and Egyptian aircraft—usually seen in nuclear emergencies—near Pakistan. But experts and officials have said these were baseless rumours.
A claim that an Egyptian military plane landed in Pakistan with boron, a chemical used to control nuclear leaks, also spread online. However, this report was also not verified and dismissed by former military personnel.
India Denies Any Strike on Kirana Hills
Air Marshal A K Bharti from the Indian Air Force stated that India did not attack Kirana Hills or any nuclear facility. In fact, he added, “We didn’t even know there were nuclear sites there.”
India’s Ministry of External Affairs also denied any nuclear involvement, saying all military action stayed within conventional limits. Government spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal added that even Pakistan denied these nuclear incident claims officially.
Why Kirana Hills is Important
Kirana Hills is known to be a top-secret military zone in Pakistan and is believed to have underground nuclear tunnels. It's located about 75 km from the Khushab nuclear complex, which has four reactors that produce nuclear material.
Many defence experts consider Kirana Hills vital for Pakistan’s second-strike capability—meaning it could launch a nuclear attack even after a first strike by another country.
