Operation Sindoor: In the early hours of May 7, India carried out a special military mission called Operation Sindoor. The operation targeted 9 terror-linked locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The main goal was to destroy the infrastructure used by terrorist groups that pose a threat to India.

Why Was This Operation Launched?
This move came after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives, including many tourists. Indian intelligence found that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), based in Pakistan, was behind the attack. In response, India planned this high-level strike to weaken the terrorists' ability to operate.

Here are the main sites that were destroyed during the operation:
Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur: A JeM base led by Masood Azhar. Known for past major attacks like the 2001 Parliament attack and Pulwama blast (2019).
Markaz Taiba, Muridke: The main centre for Lashkar-e-Taiba, linked to the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Sarjal, Tehra Kalan: Close to the border, this area was used by JeM militants to cross into India.
Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot: A base for Hizbul Mujahideen.
Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala: Another crossing point often used by LeT terrorists.
Markaz Abbas, Kotli: A training site for JeM suicide bombers in PoK.
Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli: Operated by HM for training.
Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad: Run by LeT.
Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad: A JeM training base.
India's Message to Terror Networks
With Operation Sindoor, India sent a strong message that terrorism will not be tolerated. By targeting these long-standing terror hubs, the Indian Army aimed to break the backbone of terror groups operating from across the border.
