Operation Sindoor: India Hits Jaish, Lashkar, Hizbul Bases in Major Counter-Terror Strike

Two weeks after the deadly Pahalgam attack, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ to strike at the roots of terror. Nine terror hubs of Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and PoK were destroyed in a precision military operation.

Operation Sindoor: On April 22, 26 people were killed in a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India carried out 'Operation Sindoor'—a strategic military action that hit nine major terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

What Was Hit in Operation Sindoor

Indian Air Force (IAF) struck nine key locations linked to banned terror outfits—Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen. These locations were used for training, planning, and infiltrating terrorists into India.

Targets by Group:

Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM):

  • Markaz Subhan Allah – Bahawalpur
  • Sarjal – Tehra Kalan
  • Markaz Abbas – Kotli
  • Syedna Bilal Camp – Muzaffarabad

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT):

  • Markaz Taiba – Muridke
  • Markaz Ahle Hadith – Barnala
  • Shwawai Nalla Camp – Muzaffarabad

Hizbul Mujahideen (HM):

  • Makaz Raheel Shahid – Kotli
  • Mehmoona Joya – Sialkot

Key Locations & Their Roles

Muridke (LeT)

LeT’s top training hub, Muridke near Lahore, has long been a center for arms training and radicalisation. It’s also home to Jamaat-ud-Dawa, LeT's front organization.

Markaz Abbas (JeM)

Located near Kotli military camp, this center can house over 100 JeM cadres. It is the residence of key leader Qari Zarrar.

Markaz Subhan Allah (JeM)

JeM's main headquarters in Bahawalpur. The Pulwama attackers were trained here. The center houses over 600 cadres and top JeM leaders.

Sarjal Facility (JeM)

Situated in Tehra Kalan, Sarjal is used for cross-border tunnel infiltration and drone-based arms drops into India.

Makaz Raheel Shahid (HM)

Located in hilly Kotli, PoK, this old HM facility serves as a training and arms storage camp.

Markaz Ahle Hadith (LeT)

A LeT launch base near Barnala, PoK, used to infiltrate terrorists into Poonch and Rajouri.

Mehmoona Joya Camp (HM)

Located in Sialkot, it trains Hizbul cadres and handles infiltration, arms smuggling, and planning attacks in Jammu.

Shwawai Nalla Camp (LeT)

Active since the early 2000s, this LeT camp is for basic and advanced weapons training, including Daura-e-Aam.

Syedna Bilal Camp (JeM)

A transit camp in Muzaffarabad used for launching JeM terrorists into India.

Indian Government’s Statement

India’s Defence Ministry confirmed the strikes at 1:44 am on Wednesday, stating that the operation was “focused, measured and non-escalatory.” It emphasized that no Pakistani military targets were attacked, only terrorist infrastructure.
