PM Modi Tells Trump Kashmir is Not for Mediation

Following the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a call from US President Donald Trump. The two leaders engaged in a 35-minute long, detailed discussion, their first direct communication since Operation Sindoor and the recent ceasefire debates. Though Trump had planned to meet Modi in person, the meeting didn’t happen as Trump left the summit early. Instead, the conversation took place via a direct call from Canada.

PM Modi Refuses Mediation Offer, Reiterates India’s Stand on Kashmir

During the call, PM Modi strongly reiterated India’s consistent stand on Kashmir—clearly stating that India has never accepted mediation and will never do so. Modi emphasized that matters related to Kashmir are strictly internal, and India has a united political consensus on this. His reply came in the wake of international curiosity and Trump's previous suggestions of mediating between India and Pakistan.

PM Modi Briefs Trump on Operation Sindoor and Terror Targets

Prime Minister Modi took the opportunity to brief President Trump on Operation Sindoor, stating that India had launched targeted strikes on terrorist camps located in Pakistan and PoK on the night of May 6–7. He made it clear that India’s actions were focused, accurate, and a response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Modi stressed that India’s actions were part of a firm commitment to eliminate cross-border terrorism.

Trump Backs India’s Counter-Terrorism Stance

President Trump expressed his understanding and support for India’s counter-terror operations. According to official sources, he appreciated Modi’s transparency and India’s efforts to maintain peace while protecting its sovereignty. Trump’s reaction marked continued American support for India’s stand against terrorism.

Trump Invites Modi to US, PM Politely Declines Due to Schedule

US President Donald Trump extended an informal invitation to Prime Minister Modi, suggesting they meet in the US if Modi was returning from Canada. However, PM Modi politely declined the invitation due to prior commitments and a packed schedule. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, no trade talks or mediation issues were brought up during the call.
